Rap attack?

Well, because the album I'm playing tonight is a hip hop album, I decided to just fill up two hours of airtime with oddball, obscure, and underground rap music. I did this before (when I covered one of the hip hop guys' shows) but that left me free to play some more well-known stuff, too. This time around, I dug out the absolute weirdest, most out-of-the-ordinary stuff I could find. 'Like what,' you ask?

-A middle-aged accountant who raps about killing Santa Claus and all the 'hos' he has.
-Drug-damaged southern rap
-Novelty raps from the 1980's about Freddy Krueger
...and obviously a ton more, too. Also, there won't be too many similarities between this and the rap mixtape I prepared a while back, because that would be boring, right?

So make sure to tune in to WIDR tonight from midnight til 2 am for Bizarro Jerry's other-dimension hip hop party.

Laziness + new records = this week's show

Well, that's not entirely true, I guess. It's not just laziness...it's also a symptom of having wayyyyy too much to do this week and last week. Basically, I didn't have decent time to prepare 2 mix CD's-worth of songs (this is how I usually do the program) so I'm thinking it's going to be an all-vinyl, non-obscure program this week. I did this once before when my hard drive crashed and I lost all the music I set aside for the show, but this time will be an even larger variety of tunes. 

So, yeah, that's about it...too busy to worry about uploading albums or anything right now, but it'll definitely be a good, if not themed, program. It gives me a chance to play some of my favorite tunes that wouldn't otherwise end up on the show. Then, the week after this, I should have another full-length and some new tunes to play.

Program tonight

So, I haven't posted any downloads for this week...mostly because it's been a hectic few days...but I promise there'll be more stuff in the near future. Aside from that, Obscuro! is tonight...midnight til 2 as usual, and I'm thinking about doing a ten-show run featuring full-length albums again. It's been quite a while since the last run, and I've got hella record-buildup. Here are some of the things that I'll be featuring if I do this:

No, not THAT Bobby Brown. This guy is a mystical weirdo who puts out some really cool homemade records. This one wasn't really recorded live, because he thought there was too much audience noise on the real live recording and re-did his entire set in his van that same day with one dude watching. Strange, but it kicks ass.

Black Widow - Sacrifice
Satanic psych-rock! And plenty of it. This is where that 'Come! Come! Come to the Sabbat!' song comes from...

So, that's a heads-up of what you can expect here (and on the radio) in the weeks to come, and I will continue posting mp3 versions of my podcasts for those who are not iTunes-inclined.

All the Jim Shepard you can handle!

Well, the hard-drive situation is looking good...so I think I might have some new music for you all this week after all. It's still fucked for now, but I'm going to get a new case and try to put my old hard drive into it. Not that it matters, but that's what's up. Hopefully this works since that's where all my music for the program is.

In the meantime, I found this guy's page, which appears to exist for the sole purpose of uploading Jim Shepard and Jim Shepard-related music. I played his group, V-3, this past week, and also a solo track. V-3 is a terrific band along the lines of Archers of Loaf, but better and more smacked-out. I love AoL, but V-3's album "Photograph Burns" has quickly become a favorite record of mine in the past week.

Regardless, there'll be a new edition of the program this Thursday night as I've got a stockpile of CD-R's in the event something like this happens.
