Depressive Tongue Posse - 'Highworld' Mixtape

This came out last week. It's pretty nuts. Guest spots include MC Trachiotomy, Finnish hip-hopper Tuuttimorko, and UK rapper holy BLASKO.

DTP has officially added Ohio weirdo-rapper Boy Froot, so he's on most of the tracks in addition to the other two rappers. Tracks range from trap, lo-fi, boom-bap, to pretty experimental stuff.

It's free, too.

Boy Froot - 'Bitch Shift' Mixtape

You might remember a demented rap mixtape I posted a while back by a producer/rapper out of Cincinnati called Boy Froot. It kinda reminded me of the Residents doing a Lil Ugly Mane album, and had like a million tracks on it. Well, he's back with an even better release that has even fuckin' more tracks. It's called 'Bitch Shift,' and features a lot more collaborations, including Depressive Tongue Posse, Hexxxoffndr, Secret Provider and a bunch of tracks with Keiki, his frequent partner in rhyme.

Coming off like a tribute to 'Paul's Boutique' made by aliens, the mixtape bridges the gap between wonky experimental hip hop, Memphis lo-fi murder rap and old school Beasties-esque 'sampleadelia.' With most of the songs having minute-and-a-half lengths, and all of the production being handled by Froot himself, it feels like an album that's been shattered and put back together completely wrong (in a good way.) Tracks blend into one another, stop at random, and morph into completely different ideas.

While 'Looters' featured barely-discernible slimy raps pitch shifted into oblivion, the vocals on this one are a little cleaner, which brings some of Boy Froot's humorous lines to the forefront. Where else are you gonna hear a guy brag about 'making you his pet' and never taking you to the vet?

The structure is also interesting, in that it moves from the deranged Residents-hop of 'Looters' to a more listener-friendly vibe by the end of the album. Who could anticipate from the borderline-noise opening tracks that the record would close with something that sounds almost like golden-era Cypress Hill? Collab tracks like 'Killin' Spree' (with DTP) and What's the Word (with Hexxxoffndr) dive full-on into old school Beastie Boys with a frenzy of samples, but elsewhere you'd be hard-pressed to find any comparison to this stuff.

Anyhow. It's good, basically. Really good. And right now, it's free on his Bandcamp page, so GEIT DAT SHITZ.

DJ El G/SupaSortaHuman/Depressive Tongue Posse/KidRaz - 'Lost Thing'

Yo. DTP did a collab recently with a Belgian producer named DJ El G and dirty-south masta SortaHuman. Evil Memphis-style shit. Get the 'Lost Thing' mixtape for free from DatPiff. Check the Posse-produced cut 'Swirlz' and Posse rappers Sharxx and Aggressive Professor on the track 'Glock In,' produced by DJ El G. Seems like the Posse should have another mixtape on the way soon...

Reader submission: Faggot aka Rap Game Bobby Hill

I only get reader submissions very occasionally, which kinda suxxxx. I like hearing new stuff. What the fuck guys? whimperwarrior@gmail.com

Judging by the content I post about, you can probably guess that the things people send my way are often bizarre. Fine by me. Today's is no exception.

Here's the bio I was sent:

"For fans of Earl Sweatshirt, Kitty Pryde, Kreayshawn, Riff Raff, Lil' B, Das Racist, & Trinidad James,"Faggot" the "deceased' teenage Houston based rapper otherwise known as "rap game Bobby Hill" of the alternative hip-hop outlet Finnigan's Baked surfaces with his second posthumous mixtape after the 16 year old child prodigy tragically committed suicide on December 21st, 2012. Supreme glacial lyrics of albino thuggery pumping swag over experimental beats handled by really gifted foreign people."

Mind you, I have no idea how much of that is true. I do love the idea of 'rap game Bobby Hill.' I'm going to assume 16 is probably the correct age of this dude. Most of the mixtape/album covers feature false quotes attributed to people like Earl Sweatshirt, Lil B, Yelawolf, etc. Although, once again, who knows, maybe there's a legit quote in there somewhere.

Anyhow, this is some angry, shit-talkin' rap music. Faggot hates pretty much everybody putting out music currently, and he's perfectly happy to throw all amounts of ridiculous lines at them. You also get him pretending to be Mickey Mouse and rapping about smoking weed, doing fake 'guest spots' as rappers like Danny Brown, bragging about killing Kurt Cobain, and plenty of stoned prank calls. Yeah, it fits right in here pretty much.

I dunno if he makes the beats (the 'foreign people' thing would lead me to believe not) but if he did, props because most of 'em are pretty pleasing to the ear.

If the Odd Future stuff makes ya cringe, you probably wanna steer clear of this...it's that on steroids and crack. Why do I bother searching for music when people are waiting to send me wild shit like this?

Dude sent me a couple mixtapes, and they're both here for free:

dig it.

Depressive Tongue Posse again...

Okay, the Depressive Tongue Posse album just dropped...

It's called 'Fuck Tha Continent, and it's HERE on the bandcamp page. It's also free, and 23 tracks, how bout that shit??

A bizarre lo-fi journey through murked out rap vibes. Horrorcore and old school g-funk sit side-by-side with instrumentals and tape-fucked weirdness. COP the shit already.

Last month I posted the first video.

Another video:

The Chewers

Here's a reader submission for ya...don't usually get these, but I'm always open to them...hit me up at whimperwarrior@gmail.com

This duo, out of West Virginia, is called The Chewers, and from what I've heard reminds me of stuff like Caroliner, but more structured and easier on the ears (to an extent).

They've got a video out that's kinda like some Residents shit. Just as weird, too.

Here's a little bio they sent along:

"The Chewers are Travis Caffrey and Michael Sadler, two
freaks from the woods of West Virginia (by way of Nashville), USA.
We each play various instruments, in order to create layered arrangements
in the vein of avant-roots-rock (or something like that).
The songs feature characters immersed in psychological hells, grappling
with deep disconnect from the society around them. These subjects are
generally presented with a deadpan and crooked sense of humor."

The album they're currently pushing, 'Chuckle Change and Also' is their second, and can be found here.

They've also got a Soundcloud page with some more tunes.

Dig it, yall.

'Former Fetus - A Rock Opera'

More downloadable weirdness for ya....

...By the way...at least some of the older links should work now...made my Rapidshare stuff public again since those dick-biters made it private. New links will be 4shared, which seems to be the best free file-sharing site out there now...ya might have to make an account, but it's worth it.

On to today's release:

I can't find any info on this whatsoever. Sorry. I must've found it from somebody's music blog years back, because I have it, and it exists, but beyond that, I have no idea. I remember the description on whatever site I got it from called it 'Neil Young meets hardcore,' which is semi-accurate...it's got some country-rock twang, and it's definitely punk rock, but that leaves out the glaring fact that it's a religious rock opera against abortion, probably made by one guy, which puts it squarely in the realm of OUTSIDER MUSIC, which I know is why y'all come here.

I think this came out sometime in the mid-90's...96 maybe? Sounds like these guys/guy listened to a LOT of Minutemen/Meat Puppets/Husker Du 80's psych-punk stuff. The singing especially sounds like Husker Du, and the concept lyrics remind me of 'Zen Arcade' a bit, but there's definitely something off here....I mean, generally speaking, most punks AREN'T pro-lifers, but the lyrics are so so so angry, it's almost ridiculous.

Anyhow. Give it a shot. It's a very creative, sloppy, inventive punk record if nothing else.

'Former Fetus - A Rock Opera'
Tracklist:

1. Overture
2. Former Fetus
3. I'm Free
4. Live and Nesting
5. Under the Bridge
6. Twilight Zone
7. I'm a Mom
8. Love
9. After the Rapture
10. Acoustic Nerve
11. Former Fetus (reprise)

Bleeding Skull film reviews

Apparently a treasure trove of no-budget 80's trash films, which is something I am quite fond of. If you thought 'Street Trash' or 'Slime City' were too high-budget, check out some of these flicks. I already know I'm going to be wasting a fair amount of time looking these releases up.

All the Jim Shepard you can handle!

Well, the hard-drive situation is looking good...so I think I might have some new music for you all this week after all. It's still fucked for now, but I'm going to get a new case and try to put my old hard drive into it. Not that it matters, but that's what's up. Hopefully this works since that's where all my music for the program is.

In the meantime, I found this guy's page, which appears to exist for the sole purpose of uploading Jim Shepard and Jim Shepard-related music. I played his group, V-3, this past week, and also a solo track. V-3 is a terrific band along the lines of Archers of Loaf, but better and more smacked-out. I love AoL, but V-3's album "Photograph Burns" has quickly become a favorite record of mine in the past week.

Regardless, there'll be a new edition of the program this Thursday night as I've got a stockpile of CD-R's in the event something like this happens.

You can always check out some older podcasts, though.
