...as promised (I think?), here's another Voivod album for your enjoyment. This is the album directly AFTER 'Nothingface.' It's a little more poppy with less metallic elements, but just as fuckin' weird. Love these guys, for real.

Shameless self-promotion...again!
Since I just finished compiling a 2-disc collection of the 'best of' my musical project, The HATE Noise, I figured I'd put the download link up here. This is basically a dump for all my ideas that I can't work into a full-band setting, or that are simply too weird. On average, I write about 3-4 songs a week, and only maybe one of those will go on to be played in a full-band setting. The others get recorded (usually) quickly on whatever instruments/equipment are lying around.
These two discs were culled from recordings beginning in 2003 and ending last week (that's about 8-10 80 minute CDR's-worth of material.) This is the result of doing this shit for years but only recently deciding that anybody should hear it.
You can download it HERE from Megaupload. Here's how I'm charging for the album:
Download the album first, but listen to it all the way through. Decided if it's worth any money to you (and if so, how much.) Send said amount to my PayPal account at eli.f.kroes@wmich.edu. You have to also have a PayPal account to do this. Otherwise, just e-mail me and we'll figure something out. I won't turn down money. If instead, you find yourself feeling like you wasted 3 hours, don't pay me for the album and delete it from your computer. No point in listening to it again if it's not worth money, right? That's that.

Playlist for 9-24-10, with a healthy dose of Residents
Odds are, if you've heard my radio program once, you've probably heard The Residents. They're pretty much the only group I've played consistently for the year-and-a-half I've been on the air. That doesn't mean I find all their music listenable (something like 50 fucking albums) and that definitely doesn't mean that I don't think some of their stuff is just plain stupid, but during their heyday (probably 75-89) they produced some really sick and twisted music. Just for an example, here's what their album "Not Available" is all about:
"In 1978, the "official" word was that The Residents had stated that Not Available could never be released. The group claimed that they had recorded the album in secrecy as a way of exercising their "theory of obscurity" to its fullest, and, in strict accordance with the theory, the work could never be released until its creators no longer recalled its existence. However, the reissued album's liner notes state that the album was an exercise in group therapy, and the Residents didn't want to release it because they felt it was too personally revealing." - Wikipedia
But, that aside...there was also quite a bit of new stuff on last night's program, so check the podcast.
...and the playlist:
Jerry Rooth - But You'll Try...Again
Striborg - Embittered Darkness
Wild Man Fischer - Do the Wildman
Gary Wilson - Your Dream is not My Scene
Colonel Trip and Captain Future - Old School Zig Zag Wizard
Peter Grudzien - New York Town
Terminal Cheesecake - Herbal Space Flight
Residents:
'Seasoned Greetings' from 'Meet the Residents' (1973)
'The Shoe Salesman' from 'Not Available' (recorded 1974, released 1978), featuring Renaldo and the Loaf
'Godsong' from 'Fingerprince' (1976)
'Krafty Cheese' from 'Duck Stab' (1978)
'Arctic Hysteria' from 'Eskimo' (1979)
'Give it to Someone Else' from 'The Commercial Album' (1980)
The Parasites of the Western World - Funeral for a Mouse
Jan Dukes de Grey - Sun Symphonica
Jake Vegas - Naked Kiss
Red Krayola - Stink Program
High Rise - Monster a Go Go
Zoogz Rift - Santa's on a Diet
Oblachnyj Kraj - Vozvrashenie Kazakov iz Dalnego Pohodo
Abner Jay - My Mule
There's a pretty good chance I'll put up some more Voivod this week...or something equally as hard-rockin'.

Playlist for 9-17-10...lots of new stuff!
You wouldn't think that being away from my radio show for a week would leave me with such a stockpile of new music, but alas. The cool thing is, I only got through about half of it, so that's even less work I have to put into this coming Thursday's show.
Some of my favorite recent finds were this dude who calls himself Vulcan. Apparently when Jimi Hendrix died, he felt it was his duty to continue along the same musical path he thought Hendrix would have been going down, although without the obvious monetary advantage (or, arguably, musical skill...I say arguably because the dude can wail and (I think) he's playing all the other stuff, too. BUT, he might not be as technically skilled as, say, Hendrix). The result is more similar to recent doom-metal groups like Om/Sleep and Boris than anything else. The whole mix is distorted, and slow, trudging riffs are the main focus. In short, the album he released, "Meet Your Ghost" is awesome in every respect (especially the bizarre cover photo).
Also Kali Bahlu, who I can't really describe too much...you'll have to hear that one.
Lastly, I think the Blue's Men will become a fast favorite on the program. Their take on 60's garage rock is a li'l different, to say the least. I dunno where they found that vocalist, but dude is nuts. He sounds like he's doing parody versions of his own band's songs, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean he sounds like he got bored with singing the songs over and over and instead chose to get fucked up on heroin before going into the studio to cut his vocals. Screamin' Jay Hawkins can't really even hold a candle to this fucker. I played three tunes by 'em.
"So you thought you heard it all? Well, I bet you haven't heard this one! The Blue's Men were from Argentina and their sole LP release is the rarest 60s beat/garage /weirdo release from over there. The Blue's Men's sound is great garage rock with deranged bursts of fuzztone guitar and bizarre lyrics (in English) with song titles like "The Day the World Fried My Brain" and "Reflections of a Sun Freakout"! This might lead you to think it's psych smaltz but no, no, no it's garage rock and deranged stuff from hell, with a lead singer sounding like Elvis o.d'ing on cough syrup! A one of a kind monster record you need real bad! 10" Ltd 500 copies. " - Subliminal Sounds

Playlist for 9-10-10, brought to you by Aaron of Forte fame
I was off seeing Sleep this past Thursday:
So Aaron from Forte, WIDR's only metal program, filled in for me. He played a ton of stuff that I've never heard of, which is awesome. Here's the podcast and playlist:
Terror Organ - Frontal Lobe Castration
Nurse with Wound - Musical Bovine Spongiform (The Mad Cow Two Step)
Zero Kama - Death Posture
Diamanda Galas - Hee Shock Die
Current 93 - The Dissolution of the Boat "Millions of Years"
Schloss Tegal - Hunting for Humans
The Blizzard Sow - Elastic
James Plotkin - Joy of Disease
Kulfon - Kulfon co z Ciebie Wyrosnie
Nurse with Wound - Beetle Crawls Across My Back
Deutsch Nepal - Poison Free Market
House of Low Culture - Edward
Einsturzende Neubauten - Kreg Den Stadten
John Moran - Susan Atkins on a Night Highway
Galloping Coroners - Tuzitanc (Fire-full Dance)

Terminal Cheesecake - Black Microdot 1
Boyd Rice & Friends - Tomb of the Forgotten Father
The Gerogerigegege - Side A of It (Excerpt)
Megaptera - Power Vibrations
Null - Part Three
So there, somebody else's version of weirdness for a change. Enjoy. Conversely, if you're into heavy metal (of all sorts), I'll be doing Forte this week, Friday night 11 pm - 2 am, as well as my own program.
Also, here's another Voivod album for your downloading pleasure. This one directly precedes the one I put up last week (Nothingface). These guys are seriously off the hook. Even if you don't like metal, you should probably check it out.
Voivod - Dimension Hatröss
Tracklist:
1. Prolog - Experiment
2. Tribal Conviction
3. Chaosmongers
4. Technocratic Manipulators
5. Epilog - Macrosolutions to Megaproblems

Playlist for 9-3-10, featuring Lucifer's 1972 album 'Big Gun'
Back to full-lengths, for no reason other than I found this album and decided you needed to hear it all. What a goddamn wacky record.
Basically, this guy is really Peter Walker, one-time member of 60's psych group The Purple Gang. He got into witchcraft, Aleister Crowley, and all that stuff, and dropped off the face of the earth for a while. When he returned, he made everyone call him Lucifer and made two very bizarre records, this being the first. He also perpetuated a myth that he was actually a full band recording in an Arizonan cave. Not true. He's a basement weirdo from the UK. And he doesn't have a band. Oh well, this album is pretty obviously the work of one person, with its off-kilter blues-structures, completely mind-fucked LSD vocals, and the general wrong-ness of the whole thing.
If you've enjoyed some of the stranger, less-listenable stuff I play, you'll definitely dig this.
Here's the podcast for this week.
...and the playlist:
Harry Merry - Rural Population
The Fuckin' Flyin' A-Heads - Watching T.V.
Kurt Cobain, channeled by Linda Polley - Hey, Little Pinky!
Kurt Cobain, channeled by Linda Polley - Down with Trans-Fats!
Vagtazo Halottkemek - Radebredek
Fred Frith - Evolution
Jandek - Naked in the Afternoon
Lucifer - 'Big Gun' LP:
1. Gonna Do That
2. Hypnosis
3. I'll Be Gone
4. With You, with Me
5. The Morning After the Night Before
6. What was that Thing I Saw You with Last Night?
7. Dance with the Devil
8. Don't Care
9. Want it - I'm Coming
10. I'm a Natural Man
11. Gonna Do That (Reprise)
DOWNLOAD the album by itself.
Congresswoman Malinda Jackson Parker - Track #1
Stephen David Heitkotter - Hangin' All Night
The Runaways - S-P-E-E-D-M-E-T-A-L
Kim Fowley - Save Love for Rainy Day
Sound Ceremony - Tobacco Man
White Coffee - Voodoo
Der Plan - Geri Regi
Drahdwaberl - Kaiserhymne Pink Punk Shirt
Billy R. Couvson - Ding Dong
I'm thinking Skip Spence's album 'Oar' will finally make an appearance on the show this week...
